Last weekend saw the launch of our 1st SE25 Jewellery Makers Showcase at the gallery with Jewellery designers Ms James London and TM Boutique, raising funds for those affected by last years Hurricane Maria in the Commonwealth of Dominica.
It seems to have disappeared from the news and it is very important that it is not forgotten! We are on a mission to raise money and help in whatever way we can.
Despite the wet weather, It was a wonderful turnout for such a worthy cause.
Guests were able to have a glass of wine and meet the designers whilst browsing the handmade jewellery with a complimentary piece of freshly baked banana cake baked by my mother!
My father is Dominican and I have family that have had their lives turned upside down and inside out by hurricane Maria. This fundraiser the first of many, where exhibiting designers will donate 20%+vat to the official Dominica Hurricane Maria Relief Fund.
Together we raised £120
Artwork by Elizabeth James® was also purchased at the event and Elizabeth is also donating 20%+vat of the sales to the official Dominica Hurricane Maria Relief Fund. Elizabeth will be making that at contribution on an ongoing basis for all future sales of her artwork at the gallery.
The event was attended by many londoners and local businesses, some had come from as far as High Wycombe to show their support and donate to the cause.
Also in attendance were Croydon Councillors Paul Scott & Alison Butler who are very proactive in the local community.
